What do you think ???

Post by Alton_Bee » Sat Oct 21, 2006 9:39 pm

Tomorrow, Sunday, I am planning to brew the following recipe:

3 kg Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt
1 kg Vienna Malt
250 gm Crystal Malt
150 gm Aromatic Malt
100 gm Special B Malt
50 gm Chocolate Malt

The above has been put together while I type this post. Keeping both the Pale and Vienna malts at the same levels would you make any alterations or additions to the rest of the grain bill ??

The hops I have on hand are 100 gms each of Fuggles, Goldings and Target. What hops would you put with this brew ??

Is there a particular style you are trying to hit with this recipe? What is your recipe volume?

No - I am not looking to hit a particular style other than a decent beer.

I am looking to make 5 galloons but this is also open to suggestions.

Thanks BigEd - an interesting recipe - however does it make much difference that I have Vienna malt rather than Munich (Although I do have 500 gms of Munich) ??

Oops  I got the wrong one there. It wouldn't really make a big difference. Munich is just slightly darker than Vienna malt.

BigEd's recipe looks brilliant, let me know how it is if you brew it!

Finally got time to brew this today.

A couple of changes made to the recipe though:

Used 500 gms Munich and 500 gms Vienna as when getting the grains found I didn't have 1 kg of Vienna as originally intended.

Also added 50 gms of roasted barley.

Other than that the grain stayed the same.

Currently heating the sparge water.
