Off the Wall Recipe for San Francisco Lager Yeast ?

Post by adm » Thu Nov 13, 2008 12:46 pm

Anybody got any thoughts on a recipe to use up a vial of White Labs San Francisco Lager Yeast? (WLP810) I am looking for something a bit different and was thinking along the lines of a dry black lager type beer, but fermented at nearer to ale temperatures (maybe 14-16C in my unheated front room). Maybe an ale/lager malt hybrid?

How about something like this:

2.5kg Pale Malt
2.5kg Lager Malt
0.25Kg Black Malt
0.5Kg Caramalt

Perle Hops to 30 IBU (6.9% AA, 30g 90 mins, 25g 15 mins)

Any thoughts on this - or completely different suggestions.
