Orange Slurry Suprise.

Well i thought I will try it as 4 litres of orange concentrate isn't that expensive for a trial but there's the recipe. Makes 1 Gallon

4 litres of OJ concentrate
1/2 Lb of brewing sugar
1 teaspoon of (Youngs super yeast)
1 teaspoon of (Youngs Yeast Nutrient)

a) Boil 2 litres of the OJ and add the sugar.
b) Add the Boiled OJ to demijohn
c) Add the other 2 litres of OJ to demijohn
d) Stir in the Super yeast and nutrient and top up to 1 gallon with warm water.

airlock and leave for 14 days.

After that I don't know what it will be like but the OG is 1049 I will let you know what happens after any hospital visit.

All I can say is there's a good head and good fermentation that's about it.

Don't mean to dampen your spririts - every experiment is worth a shot and its not like you are much out of pocket giving it a go. However, on one of the Turbo Cider threads someone had tried something very similar to what you have tried and they said it didn't work out too well for them.

ok day 4 checked the abv 5.75%abv instead of putting back i tried it. and tbh it's has the cringeness of a really cheap white lightning cider but in orange. I may after week 1 just drink 3 pints and see what happens :)

Enjoy Dougs ramblings while they are still lucid.

This is only a small step away from trawling the shops for rotten fruit and brewing from peelings and such.

I predict a swift decline. (Why isn't there an emoticon with a tongue in its cheek?)

Surely there is a reason that you can't buy drinks

Made from grapes it is Wine
Made from apples it is Cider
Made from pears it is Perry

What is it called when made from oranges? There must be a reason it isn't generally available. Maybe you can enlighten us all with this experiment :D

In Ireland this is called Chateau De Mountjoy.

Mountjoy being a prison.
