Golden Pride

Post by Swinging Beef » Wed Feb 11, 2009 3:09 am

Hi everyone...
I live in a land downunder, and a couple of my friends who have been luvky enough to travel to England, have told me how gread Fullers Golden Pride is.
"So nice, I wanted to smash the bottle and suck on the shards of glass"

So, Ive never tasted this beer, and Im dead keen to make something reasonably close.
Do any of you guys have a recipe or even just a starting place for making such a strong English beer?

Golden pride, ESB, London pride and Chiswick bitter are all gyled with the same grist.

The first comes off and finishes at 1.085, the second at around 1.025 or so. Both are hoppy separately. Then different amounts are blended of each wort to get the different beers. Golden Pride uses on the 1.085.

Keeling is quite a bloody bright fella he is.

If they like Golden Pride they'll love Vintage Ale, a Fullers beer based on Golden Pride but bottle conditioned.

I've heard on the grapevine that contrary to popular opinion, GK IPA is brewed within a mile of a hop as well.

HA!
Remember, guys.. Ive never had either of these beers.
My taste runs toward Belgian Tripel and English Barley Wines.

So the Greene King is all malt, no hop?
How does it get called an IPA then?

Educate me!
