KRONENBOURG
KRONENBOURG
Wow, I'm shocked ( swoons ) !!!
Just out of curosity I looked for a recipe for the above, and there isnt one ! Whats the world coming to?
Is it Armageddon? Have all the brewers lost their touch ?
There's ALWAYS somebody who has concocted everything ! Sheesh !
Or is there a technical reason why it's difficult to produce? Enlighten me guys !

Re: KRONENBOURG
Brace yourself Taxmackem because I sense much ribbing coming your way. Recipes suggestions like, take some piss....or throw some hops and some grain....etc.
I think nobody really likes it so there's not much in the way of recipes. I'm not a lager hater but I doubt I would ever take the time to brew this given the other options available and if I had to have a Kronenbourg for whatever reason I'd buy it.

Re: KRONENBOURG
I was under the impression it has a bit of maize in it although I could be wrong. It's probably not that complicated a recipe probably but you're unlikely to clone it exactly as it depends a lot on the process side of brewing.
Re: KRONENBOURG
I'll get my tin hat on
Will it help if I say it's not for me? Was chatting about brewing to lad at work,he said liked it, and I said would see if a recipe on here--honest

Re: KRONENBOURG
Im imagine you could get quite close with something like.
Lager Malt 4.5 Kg
Carapils 0.3 Kg
15-20 IBUs from a 90 min addition of spalt
Aroma addition of spalt hops.
Spalt hops at least come from the same region as kronenburg so would be a good place to start.

Re: KRONENBOURG
3.8kg lager malt
0.6kg flaked maize
0.5kg honey
25g Goldings
25g Saaz
10g Saaz (last 10 mins)
Lager yeast
23 litres
OG 1052
Best mashed in 2 stages. 30 mins at 55C and 90 mins at 66C but omit the 55C if you need to.

Re: KRONENBOURG
Just to confirm - Boingy's recipe (above) is taken from 'Brewing Beers Like Those You Buy' by Dave Line.
It is listed as 'Kronenbourg Export'. This may either be the '1664' that your friend likes (My lager of choice also I must admit!) or the kronenbourg that they sell on the continent which I'm pretty sure is different to 1664 export (not sure though!)
Hope this helps,
H

Re: KRONENBOURG
Pale malt
Slight crystal
Hersbrucker hallertau
Near end of boil
Strisselspalt at end
Fermented for minimum 7 days @ 12oc
Top pressure at 0.15 bar which is nothing!
Protein stand at 52 oc for 30 mins then mash for 1 hour
Munich yeast would probably be best

A reference to the fact the thread is back from the dead, the last post being 6 years ago!
In or near Norwich? Interested in meeting up monthly to talk and drink beer? PM me for details.

My curiosity is peaked - even if it is a zombie thread.
So what else does go into the recipe apart from dishwater
