Wold Gold

Post by mbt22 » Wed Apr 29, 2009 9:11 pm

Has anyone had a shot at something like Wold Gold? The excellent Wold Top website describes it as "a heady mix of Maris Otter, Wheat and Cara Malt along with a combination of Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops give the beer a soft ,fruity flavour with a hint of spice".

Something to fill the distressing weeks when it's not on at the local!

I've not had this beer personally however from the ingredients I suspect it to be a light to copper coloured hoppy number

I'm wildly flailing around in the dark here but if I had those ingredients I'd make something around 1.040 to 1.045 bitter with goldings then late hop with the styrians. Grain would be 90% maris otter 5% wheat and 5% caramalt.

I could be entirely wrong though

Cheers, I shall have a shot at something like that then. I'm more interesting in creating something tasty, using beers I like as a starting point, rather than cloning something I can buy!
