Right then, as promised, a bit of an update.

This beer is absolutely wonderful. I've just had my first pint and it's great :D

It's got a very slight roasted flavour and a good level of bitterness with very little hop aroma. It's not as sweet as a brown ale but there is a slight sweetness, probably because of the lack of hop aroma.

It's also, very drinkable 8)

I think this is oe of my best recipe's and I'll definitely be keeping it as a house porter.

/Phil.

Just finished my brewday doing this recipe which Phil (Seveneer) posted. Just halved all the quantities. I can just about manage a 8/9kg grain bill recipe but thought I'd try it out first.

Ended up doing a mega thin mash (probably about 12/13 litres), I just couldn't hit 65/66 due to reasons unknown, I usually get it pretty spot on.

At the end of the 90 min mash during run off / sparge I got massive roasted coffee aromas, very promising.

Got 20 litres at 1046 at the end of it, efficiency down on the recipe, but still looking good.

Cheers Phil for the recipe.

Great. Glad you're using it.

I had a pint and half of this tonight and it has matured beautifully. My brother-in-law is quality control for a large brewery and he gave it the thumbs up too. :D

Could be arranged. Unfortunately I haven't bottled and primed any so it might be a little lifeless.

I serve this beer through a beer engine normally which gives it a little something that pushing it with CO2 just doesn't.
