This looks nice
- not disimilar to the type of brews I often make.* I find that brews like this are real crowd pleasers at bbqs and general booze ups because they are not overly bitter, but the late goldings add a nice flavour. They are also economical to make for the financially challenged like me, because they don't require more than one pack of hops.
My completely random 2p worth

* not that I'm making any big claims about my beers

I'm not sure I completely understand. I just chuck the hops in the boiler when it's switched off. I've done it differently the last couple of times.Calum wrote:BD. Do you add the steeped liquid aswell or drain and then add? just hops?
1) I let them sit for 20 or 30 mins, then carefully transferred the hot wort out of the boiler via tubing into a bin (I did'nt have a wort cooler and therefore didn't want the wort sitting in the boiler with the hops too long)
2) Threw the hops in and started my new wort cooled imediately. When cooled, i transferred to the bin.
The first time, steeping, I got a more intense hop flavour, so I think I'll steep for 20 mins from now on. I think the wort chiller will do its job quickly enough so that hops added late in the boil will not contribute too much bitterness. I suppose I could increase the aroma hops and cool immediately as an alternative.
