Units in BBLTYB?

Post by monk » Thu Dec 28, 2006 8:52 pm

Hey guys--first of all: Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays!

I've got a question about Dave Line's BBLTYB. Is Dave using Imperial gallons or US? I assumed they were UK, but I've plugged the quantities into Beertools with a total volume of 5 US gallons, and it comes out right for the gravity. For ex:

Fuller's LP on pg 87
I input the 7 lbs pale malt, .5 lb demerara, etc. and with a total volume of 5 us gal it comes out to 1.043. I'm just curious because I don't want to screw up the proportions.

Thanks in advance.

What efficiency did you use when calculating the OG ?

DL's recipes will be in imperial units but he's known for his "optimistic" efficiencies so I'm not surprised that the recipes seem to fit US (smaller) volumes given a "normal" efficiency.
Dan!
