Adding fruit/spices to a brew

Post by rick_huggins » Sat Sep 19, 2009 4:56 pm

Guys,

Is there a magic percentage when typically adding orange, corriander, cinnamon etc

I'm planning a brew for Bony night based on OP and would like to add some kick to it

Any help as usual much appreciated

Rick

I terms of fruit, strawberries etc, it seems more common to add to the fermentation late (in the secondary) I get the feeling you are looking more towards spices to make a "christmas cake" type of flavour. It will be a case of experimenting to your taste. There was a thread in the last week or so using orange zest and other spices (cloves I think) added like late hops. Sorry I can't remember the amounts.............maybe the OP you are refering to !
