Re: A recipe with Vienna malt?
hows about this. It's basically the recipe for Saltaire brewery Goldings ale. They put the % grist, OG and hop varieties on the back of their bottles. The % and OG are accurate, the IBU's I made up myself. Hope you like it.

Saltaire; Good how you can get the basic grain percentages etc off the bottle with the OG

Re: A recipe with Vienna malt?
They do some decent brews, I like their cascade pale ale. Saltaire Wines on Gordon Terrace (A650) usually has their range in.

Fermenting: nowt
Conditioning: Headcracker, Brewmaker Northumberland Brown, Brewmaker Export Bitter
Drinking: Coopers Euro Lager, Coopers Dark Ale, Hambleton Bard Amber Export, Coopers Aussie Pale Ale, Almondbury Old, Coopers Stout, Wherry w/Chinook
Planning: BOTW 80/-

It is defo one of my Saltaire favs. Their hazelnut coffee porter is fantastic. I can't say no when I see that on the pump clip.dunc wrote:They do some decent brews, I like their cascade pale ale.

Re: A recipe with Vienna malt?
Kev, you could do a lot worse than Saltaire Goldings Ale. It's a great brew to try your Vienna Malt out. They knock out consistently great beers. I was hooked on the Fuggles Bitter for ages and the Cascade Pale is superb. Google them and have a look.

Re: A recipe with Vienna malt?
LOOKS GOOD MAN. Sorry for the late reply I've been on nights. I have done it awhile ago and it was wicked. The BX and SG should give it a nice twist.
Let us know how you get on. When's the brewday?

Re: A recipe with Vienna malt?
yeah no worrys mate,
if all go's to plan ill be brew this bad boy up on saturday morning,
turns out bramling cross hops are a replacment for East Kent Goldings witch is a replacement for the original First Gold used in the recipe, so thats sort of close,
im culturing some Brakspear yeast for saturday but if that doesnt work out ill be using S-04 instead,
looking forward to it now, just hope the weathers going to be alright!
cheers!

Re: A recipe with Vienna malt?
i used the brakspear yeast, oh and for some reason id wrote down in my recipe book 70 grams of BX when i needed 60 grams, so the IBU is 46 insted of 40 but it worked out better because the OG was higher then planned, im thinking now, maybe i should have watered it down to 25 litres to even the IBU and the gravity, of well, live and learn eh...
