American Pale Ale

Post by wren10 » Thu Dec 10, 2009 5:56 pm

Hi All

I've recently returned from a trip to Flagstaff, Arizona and (purely in the interests of research) had a number of different beers from the Beaver Street Brewery (honestly). I would like to try to emulate their Pale Ale, which was about 5% with a coppery colour, heavily hopped with distinct citrus tones. Does anyone have a recipe they can recommend?

Thanks.

I don't have a recipe but I'd recommend using Amarillo or Cascade hops for American Pale Ales, and loads of them too. Centennial are good also but may be too bitter for the style and you might end up with something that resembles an American IPA instead. The Beer Recipator website (http://hbd.org/cgi-bin/recipator/recipes) will give you some good ideas for full recipes.

This is a pretty good recipe, I made one close to it not long ago, substituting the Northern Brewer with Centennial.

Thanks to both, I'll look at both sites.
