Planning this for Saturday.
Loosely based on Saltaire's Cascade but using Aurora, Crystal and a little bit of crystal malt.
Not decided on the yeast yet....depends what I have left....must have a look in the freezer.

Saturday's recipe
Re: Saturday's recipe
Looks like a winner to me matey. I love Saltaire Cascade pale! did you get the grain bill from the back of the bottle. I did a clone ish of the Goldings ale and it was awesome!
Let us know how it turns out!

Re: Saturday's recipe
Yeah, it's on the back of the bottle, but I've added a little bit of crystal malt as extra which isn't in the recipe! I was surprised to 10% torrified wheat in it! I'm going to re-calculate to 10% and up the MO a little I think.
I think the hops will work as they are of a similar enough ilk to the Centennial and Cascade in the Saltaire beer, but will be different enough to be a bit 'individual'!

Getting a bit bored of all those darker beers I made before Christmas....fancied something a bit lighter.

Re: Saturday's recipe
Well, the brewday went like a dream...possible due to having the house to myself
My OG came out at 1060 rather than 1057.
Dropped to 1014 after 10 days at a pretty constant 16C. Racked to secondary and it is as clear as a bell.
The taste is very similar to Saltaire Cascade, with a good hit from the Crystal.
After carbonation and a bit of maturation this one is going to be a blinder!
Bottling tomorrow.
My final recipe was.

Maris Otter 4.25 EBC 8 lbs. 6.0 oz 3800 grams 69.1%
Crystal Malt, Pale 60 EBC 0 lbs. 7.0 oz 200 grams 3.6%

Cracked open a bottle last night just to "check if it was carbonating"leedsbrew wrote:Looks like a winner to me matey. I love Saltaire Cascade pale! did you get the grain bill from the back of the bottle. I did a clone ish of the Goldings ale and it was awesome!Let us know how it turns out!

Needs a couple more weeks to mature a bit, but otherwise it is absolutely bang on.
The Aurora and Crystal hop combination is amazingly close. Certainly a combination I'll use again in other brews.
