Young's Old Nick?
Young's Old Nick?
Anyone have an idea on how to reproduce this? I know it's not made anymore but I am down to one bottle and really hate to think that will be last one I ever...

Re: Young's Old Nick?
I was just thinking of this beer and was a little sorry to read that it was discontinued.
The only source I saw for it was Beer Captured which is still available from Amazon.com and .co.uk
The reviewers suggest using the recipes only as a guideline however.
Edit: With my vague guesses removed.
I haven't looked in Michael Jackson's Beer Companion in years. I remembered he had a bit on Old Nick and it gives some specifics:
Reddish Brown 75-80 EBC
OG 1084
7.25% abv
Hopped with Fuggles and Goldings, (especially the latter, he says) 50-55 IBU
It has 4 weeks' warm conditioning.
Liqueur like, warm aroma, notes of banana, teasing balance of sweetness and dryness.

Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.
