The latest issue of BEER says about Early Bird:-

Early Bird is "light, malty and smooth". The malt sweetness is a foil to the spiciness of early season Kentish hops. Senior Brewer Stewart Main says "The classic spring beer is a lighter pale beer with not too high a gravity and a generous amount of fragrant hops."
