Hop Lovers Delight!

Post by Whorst » Thu Mar 11, 2010 11:42 pm

Doing this tomorrow. Just made a starter for WLP-007. This should be the puppies bollocks and backside. Going to mash higher as I lose 7 degrees Fahrenheit after about 5 minutes in an un-preheated mash tun. I'm aiming for a mash at around 68c.

84.6 % 11.00lbs. American Two-row Pale
7.7 % 1.00lbs. American Crystal 15L
7.7 % 1.00lbs American Munich (Light)

7g each of the following, FWH
Columbus 14.2% AA
Simcoe 12.2% AA
Amarillo 7.5% AA
Centennial 9.9% AA

60 minute boil
.50 Columbus @ 45 min
1oz. Amarillo @ 15
1oz. Simcoe @ 10
1oz. Centennial @ flameout

Dry hop with all four varieties for 7 days.
35g Columbus
21g Amarillo
21g Simcoe
21g Centennial

O.G. I'm expecting at least 1.065
F.G. around 1.013.

I will attempt to film this adventure.

Excellent, I feel like I underhopped my IPA now.

Everyone is filming now, ADM has set the bar high!

That sounds great.

Why don't you just preheat your mashtun though?

:D

TBH - I thought that vid was poor - I was honoured by the response as it was completely off the cuff. I'm going to try and do a time lapse "Benny Hill" style next time round....

I could preheat it, but I think it's easier if I just add the strike water at 79c and wait 5 minutes, then add the grain.
Same thing, just easier.
