I bought a 100g abg of stupidly cheap Green bullet hops and I thought to use it all in one brew. What does this look like?
For 19L:
Pale Malt 5 EBC 9 lbs. 7.9 oz 4310 grams 83%
Crystal Malt 130 EBC 0 lbs. 12.6 oz 355 grams 6.9%
Torrefied Wheat 4 EBC 0 lbs. 9.2 oz 260 grams 5%
Munich Malt 20 EBC 0 lbs. 9.2 oz 260 grams 5%
OG 1.060
Green Bullet Whole 13.7 % 60 mins 0 lbs. 1.1 oz 30 grams 37.5%
Green Bullet Whole 13.7 % 10 mins 0 lbs. 1.1 oz 30 grams 37.5%
Green Bullet Whole 13.7 % 0 mins 0 lbs. 0.7 oz 20 grams 25%
EBU 62
and then dry hop with the remaining 20g before bottling and forgetting it for a while.
Would one sachet of Nottingham struggle with this? Should I use 2 (which I haven't got, but I could order)? What about one of SO4 and one of Nottingham?
Green Bullet IPA. does it look OK?
Re: Green Bullet IPA. does it look OK?
Hi, or should that be Kia ora!

Looks interesting...
I'm a fan of NZ hops in general and I do like green bullet... I'm new to AG so probably am not the best to comment on your recipe...
I have used Nottingham in a 1056 beer (extract Sarah Hughes Ruby) and it fermented fine, just check that the batch isn't one of the problem ones as there is an exessive lag time... Search this forum as there are a couple of posts about it...
Also Nottingham will let the flavour of the hops thru'...
Good luck and let us know how you get on!
Cheers!

Guy

Re: Green Bullet IPA. does it look OK?
Looks good to me. I usually make mine using 100gms at quarter intervals through a 90min mash. I usually just use pale for a gravity of 1060 since I think crystal etc takes away from the hop, but I do like my beers fairly hoppy.
If you can find it go for S-05. If not S04 should do the job.

I would be very interested in how this turns out!
I have made some beauties with single very high alpha hops - Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, Columbus and most recently Chinook (insipired by Motley Brew, tried at a recent beer festival in N. Wales).
As you suggest, I think they all need a good while to mature, an Amarillo I did was very clinical for several months and then superb, then all gone
.
You have probably done it by now, but I always use two sachets of Notts/05 for beers - it works for me.

Re: Green Bullet IPA. does it look OK?
I've brewed this on the 15th May and I used Nottingham from the bottom of the fermenter of a previous batch of Proper Job and it went like a rocket from 1.060 to 1.025 in little more than 24 hours. Then it calmed down and it's now 1.016. I like my beers hoppy too, but recently I have been playing with Munich and I like the sweetness it leaves in the final product. Anyway, from the small samples I had so far it seems very nice, even though I am struggling to identify the similarities between Green Bullet and Styrian that most hops websites describe. Time to dry hop soon, then bottle and hide in the far corner of the shed for a couple of months. Pacific Gem single hops next.
Thanks for the feedback

Good to hear the brewday went well and its fermenting nicely....
I find Green bullet hops a lot less citrus (than styrians) and more, er.... 'Green'
there is a sort of herbal/spicy note that reminds me of 'noble' hops... I'm sure some NZ brewers use it to bitter Lagers Steinlager is an example...
But what do I know?
lol
Be interested to know how this tastes after maturing...

Re: Green Bullet IPA. does it look OK?
Yes, that seems to be a spot-on description of the aroma and flavour I get from this. And here I am wondering whether I should dry-hop with it or use something else instead. Has anyone dry-hopped with Green Bullet? and what were the results?Manx Guy wrote:

How did this turn out? I have some green bullet and am wondering whether to use them solo or just for bittering with some centennial or raku.
