Hi all!,
I want to brew the above recipe taken from GW's BYOBRA. The recipe states post boil hops are added - this may be a daft question but are these hops just added post boil and left to steep or does this mean dry hopping? If so, is it possible to dry hop when using cornelius kegs?
Thanks in advance
Kevin

Re: Hop Back Summer Lightening
It means just letting then steep for a bit, I chuck my steep hops in just as I turn on my IC.
You can dry hop in a cornie by sticking them in a muslin bag, either weighed down with something so they sink to the bottom (however you're probably gonna wanna take these out after about 2 weeks as they can start and taste a bit funny), or just leave em to float on the top, then fish them out when your ready

If you've got the 3rd edition, 'post boil' hops are described as "added to the hot wort when boiling has ceased" on page 16.Shoit wrote:I want to brew the above recipe taken from GW's BYOBRA. Some recipes specifically mention dry hopping so I assume the author intends for that to be different from post boil hops.
Essentially 'post boil' is just added the hops when you turn off your boiler, also called 'flame out' - I assume that adding hops then has much the same effect as using a hop-back, which may well be what is being simulated given the name of the brew.

HopBack is the name of the brewery, they do a good range of beersmuch the same effect as using a hop-back, which may well be what is being simulated given the name of the brew

I know, but still I'd be surprised if they didn't at least have a hop-back they use for some of their beers.Jack Hackett wrote:HopBack is the name of the brewery, they do a good range of beers
