Looking at his book british real ale 3rd edition page 197 guiness extra stout recipe states pale malt, flaked barley and roasted barley am right in thinking all the EBC colour 203 comes from just roasted barley ?
I would thought to get such dark EBC you need more than 485 gr for 25 ltr.

You do get EBC colour from the pale malt and a little from the flaked barley aswell

Roasted barley gives a huge amount of colour, that's one of the reasons why it's used.
