Try a Chinese cash & carry or a Chinese supermarket, it comes in 500g tubs and it's used for making Peking duck/Crispy duck, i think it cost me £1.50 tub from Hoo Hing supermarkets which are London based.

Golden Syrup is invert sugar.

The recipe for Old Peculier in the current version of BYOBRA doesn't have Maltose Syrup or Invert Sugar in it.

Sorry no, the author is a frequenter of this forum so I'll leave it up to him to see if he want to help, it's a good book and definately worth a tenner that it goes for on Amazon. I assumed from your comment above
i have brewed Theakston's old peculier from a certain ale book
that you had a copy, albeit an earlier edition.
