Old ale 19 3 07

Post by oblivious » Thu Mar 15, 2007 11:29 am

Hi all

This is my old ale I plan to do on the 19 3 07, any comments of the malt would be appreciated. Not sure if 340 grams of amber malt is to much, should I reduce this to 250 grams?

Old ale 19 3 07

Pale malt 4.76 kg
Mild malt 1kg
Amber malt 0.340kg
Crystal 50-60L 0.272 kg
Belgian Special B 0.150 kg
Chocolate malt 50 gram’s
Demerara Sugar 0.5 kg (added at 10 minutes left in the boil)

1.25 oz Northern Brewer 60 min
1.00 oz East Kent Goldings 15 min

Mash at 65-66c for 1 hour

Yeast two pack of Safale S-04

Thanks

Too much for what, exactly? Looks fine to me. :) A nutty strong ale with plenty of darker malt character.

My brew before last only had 30% Pale Malt , the rest was Pale Amber, Brown, and Rauchmalt, and 2% Black malt for colour. Tastes great.

Does amber malt contribute any fermentables to the wort?
