Tried this beer today...lovely, managed to get some of the ingredients of their website..but wouldnt have a clue how to put a recipe together for a 23l batch, any ideas fellow brewers?
Chocolate. Some say better than sex, but definitely more addictive. If you've got a
sweet tooth, try a pint of this. A rich, dark beer made with chocolate and Goldings hops
with crystal and chocolate malt.
I thought this beer was not bad at all. You could definately taste the chocolate, but I was a bit disappointed the taste didn't seem to last. The chocolate porter I brewed last year was cracking and the chocolate taste really lasted through each mouthful. I know you want to brew an ale at about 3.6 %, so have no idea if the recipe below might give you some ideas. this is an extract recipe, but should be easily convertable.
Wood Green Chocolate Porter (extract recipe)
3.5kg Pale DME
250g Crystal Malt
250g Chocolate Malt
125g Black Malt
Northdown 30g 90 mins
Goldings 30g 20 mins
200g Bournville cocoa 20 mins
SO4 yeast.
23 Litres
ABV approx 5.1%
I should point out the recipe is from Richard G, with the only addition from me being the cocoa. I also used challenger hops in place of northdown.
