Very light colour ale recipe required

My family mock my beautiful dark ales because they dont look like tasteless mass produced lager. Has anyone out there got a recipe for a very pale lager coloured ale so I can catch them out.

Just do something with maris otter and a single hop variety fermented on the cool side with Nottingham.

+1 for EoinMag's comment

If you want to make it even more pale than just using Maris Otter, use Lager malt.

Why not make them some Lager, if you make it yourself it will have a bit of flavour and will not be mass produced rubbish.

There is nothing wrong with Lager if made well.

My wife likes a drop of Lager in the summer so I made her some Pilsner similiar in style to Grolsch.

She also like a lot of my ales though, particularly those that are not too bitter.

I'd add a small proportion of wheat malt as well.
Fermenting -!
Maturing - Lenin's Revenge RIS
Drinking - !
Next brew - PA
Brew after next brew - IPA

I say brew the darkest damn ale you can and let them fend for themselves. :)

Yes, make a pitch-black stout and rig it so fall on them in a scarry manner, much like in the film "Carrie".

I'm with Rookie. Although it is nice to be able to catch people out. I'd brew something they like and then refuse ever to brew it again. Except as part of a reward system. Then they'd be queuing up to do nice things for you!

I have no problem brewing something other people like, but only if it's something I would brew for myslf.
