Strong ale recipe

Post by beernsurfing » Fri Apr 15, 2011 10:53 pm

New member here, thought i'd share a recipe. It won best in category, and champion beer of show at a small local show last year.

79.5% Trad ale ( had no MO )
8% Cara aroma
6.6% Wheat
4% Simpsons golden naked oats
1% Black patent
.9% Lyle's Black treacle

Galena 60 minutes
90g Challenger at 10 minutes

1968 ( Fermented 18c )

1.073
21 SRM
43 IBU

7.7%

Took at least 6 weeks to start smoothing out, and i wasn't impressed with it. Left it a few more weeks, and it started smoothing out nicely, and i started enjoying it a lot. I now have one single bottle left. Sunday arvo, im going to open some stilton, start with a few pale milds, and then open my last bottle.
