Pumpkin has a mild flavor that can get lost in beer, you'll probably want to add some pumpkin pie spices. Go gentle with the spices in the boil as too heavy a hand can muck it up and you can always add more along the way.
I'm just here for the beer.

Pumpkin has such a bland taste that you'd need to use a massive amount of it to get any pumpkin flavour.
I think you'd end up with a rotten sludge.

Good luck though!
