Cooling my keg down without a fridge

Post by iandiggs » Thu Jul 28, 2011 1:56 pm

Hello,
Do you think i could cool my plastic (wilko's) barrel/keg by placing it in a plastic container full of cold water (maybe full of ice)? I cannot fit it into my fridge. The pressure in the barrel shiould prevent any seapage into the barrel through the tap (which would be under the water), wouldn't it?
Thanks

Yes, you could cool it like that, for more effect drape a towel over the keg and have it in the water, the evaporation of water from the towel will help cool the keg even more. To gain even more effect, get a fan and point it at the wet towel that is over the keg.

If beer cannot get out of you tap it is watertight, therefore water won't be able to get in either.
