Reporting sucess on a wife's beer............

Post by Spud395 » Thu Sep 08, 2011 7:52 am

Like more than one other on here the bane of my life for a long time has been the fact that I couldnt make a brew the mrs. liked (well not really the bain, but it did piss me off)
So with this I set out to meet her needs in a beer and no other criteria!

3500kg pale
100g wheat malt
200g sugar

Magnum to bitter to 20 ibu's and tettnang as a 10 min and flame out addition

Fermented with Notty at 17C.

Real success, she loves it and what supprises me more I actully like it as well
It's a real pale golden colour with a tight packed pure white head.
Nice subtle maltyness and a little from the late hops, very little bitterness.

It's just a real easy drinking, wife pleasing brew and cheap as chips to brew as well
Winner, winner

Add some raspberry's (in a secondary) or even a few crushed up in the glass to serve, and she might like it even more. ;)

Hmmm I always understood it as " and a glass of white wine......for the ladies" :)

Mine will drink fruit flavoured vodka 'coolers', but wont touch either beer or wine (unless it's sickly sweet desert wine).

Thats the whole point of this quest.
I'm here brewing (what I consider good) beer and every weekend she arrives home with wine (red) which I can live with as my attempts dont stand up against even a moderately good french red.
But on other occasions, she'll arrive in with a box of corona or miller, she's also fond of a decent pilsner.
None of that fruity stuff for this lady!

I've had a few beer in the past that she put up with, if there's no other option.
What I'm saying is she LIKE'S this stuff "that's actually good, no, no I really like it"

That can only be a good thing :)

SWMBO doesn't drink much but generally prefers the dark beers (brooklyn black, chimay blue cap and so on). Al Murray would be shocked ;)
