First Harvest IPA

Post by JabbA » Wed Sep 14, 2011 4:39 pm

Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I've cobbled together my own recipe but I harvested 150g of my own hops last week and so thought what the heck, lets bung 'em all in a brew!

A good 'ol IPA seemed the right beer so I'm going to get a starter of Cal Ale stepped up tonight and get the follwoing on the go over the weekend.

Hopefully I'll end up with around 19l in the corny with the hops taking a fair amount!I've guessed on the AA of the hops, they'll probably be less- when dried they weren't the most fragrant.

Happy Brewing!

Cheers,
Jamie

Looks good, if a little too bitter for my tastes.

I'd love to be able to use my own home grown hops. I will have to investigate when we move house to somewhere more suitable.

The beer has been in a cornie for a few weeks now and is just about done clearing, and I must say it tastes really good- probably my best beer to date! Needs a little more conditioning to 'balance out' a bit but am really pleased with it. Hooray for home grown hops!

Cheers,
Jamie
