G'Morning You Lot!
I've an Amber Beer in the pipeline. But struggling for hops. I want to keep the hoppage British though.
Batch: 100L
OG: 1.044
FG: 1.012
Mash: 90 Mins
83.2% Pale Malt .......... (17.064 Kg)
15.9% Amber Malt ....... (3.26 Kg)
So far, im thinking something high alpha for bittering, about 35-40 IBU's.
My main concern is aroma. I want a big whiff of something, but not sure what will go with the Amber. A huge dose of First Gold for that orangey aroma, or maybe Bramling Cross.. Either way I want something big and fruity on the nose.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Alex
Amber Beer Recipe - Hop Suggestion?
Re: Amber Beer Recipe - Hop Suggestion?
I did a HB Amber ale a while back where the Hop Sachet got burst, so I boiled up some Northern Brewer for bittering and steeped some First Gold for aroma. It was a very good combination. And I'll probably steal your grain bill to try and reproduce it when I finally go AG.
Let's all go home, pull on our gimp suits and enjoy life
