Tried my hand at a hybrid IPA the weekend!

Indian Pale ale

11 lbs pale malt

1.5 lbs Munich malt

1 lbs Crystal malt

0.5 lbs aromatic malt

Hops

66 IBU’s

2oz Northern brewer (7% AA) 60 mins

1oz Cascade (4.8% AA) 15 mins

1oz Cascade 5 mins

1oz Cascade 1mins

Yeast
1.5 packets of S-04

O.G. 1.065

23L, but between hop absorption and leaving break material in the boiler I was left with around 17-16 liters. :x

That looks like it may be a tasty one! Let us know how that malt combination works out, might have a lot of nice compexity.

Bottled this up last night, F.O 1.017, 6.5% alcohol

Here is a picture of the secondary dry hopping with 1.2 oz of cascade, really good cascade aroma for the brew!

My first IPA used the old NB&Cascade combo, turned out ghastly I have to say because I wildly overbittered it by mistake

I will try and give this a couple of months to mature, the mind maybe willing but the flesh is weak!

with my limited experience

Did I read on the forum that the Transparent FV is not a good idea due to being affected my sun/day light and this leads to an inferior brew :?:

You can cover transparent FVs or put them somewhere dark.

Yes, under couple of good black bin bags will work nicely.

It’s a little dark for the style, but the light and camera phone don’t help! :(
