I'm looking this week to make a single hop brew using Citra to get a feel for the Hop.
I don't want it over powering but would like a nice refreshing drink for a Summers day.
How does this look:
Ruddo Citra (American IPA)
Original Gravity (OG): 1.058 (°P): 14.3
Final Gravity (FG): 1.015 (°P): 3.8
Alcohol (ABV): 5.70 %
Colour (SRM): 7.9 (EBC): 15.6
Bitterness (IBU): 37.6 (Tinseth)
94.34% Maris Otter Malt
3.77% Torrified Wheat
1.89% Crystal 120
0.8 g/L Citra (15% Alpha) @ 90 Minutes (First Wort)
0.8 g/L Citra (15% Alpha) @ 10 Minutes (Boil)
0.8 g/L Citra (15% Alpha) @ 0 Minutes (Aroma)
0.3 g/L Citra (15% Alpha) @ 0 Days (Dry Hop)
0.2 g/L Irish Moss @ 10 Minutes (Boil)
Single step Infusion at 66°C for 90 Minutes. Boil for 90 Minutes
Fermented at 20°C with Safale US-05
Recipe Generated with BrewMate
I'm deliberately trying to keep 50g of Citra back for another brew but am open to suggestions.
Will this recipe showcase Citra or do I really need to bung the lot in and make a hop bomb?
Sampling Citra
Re: Sampling Citra
I have found Citra has a lovely delicate flavour when used in moderation, I use a gram a litre for last 20 and the beer has the finesse of a kiss, rather than a smack in the chops.
You look like you have it spot on to me.
