AG#1 - Bank Job
23 L
Original Gravity (OG): 1.038 (°P): 9.5
Final Gravity (FG): 1.010 (°P): 2.6
Alcohol (ABV): 3.73 %
Colour (SRM): 7.9 (EBC): 15.5
Bitterness (IBU): 39.5 (Tinseth - No Chill Adjusted)

98.99% Pale Malt
1.01% Black Malt

76g Fuggles (3.68% Alpha) @ 90 Minutes (Boil)
22g East Kent Golding (4.96% Alpha) @ 10 Minutes (Boil)

Protafloc Tablet @ 10 Minutes (Boil)

Single step Infusion at 66°C for 90 Minutes. Boil for 90 Minutes

Fermented at 20°C with Safale S-04

Planning on doing the above as my first AG. Taken from GW's book as a Banks's Bitter clone. Have ticked the No Chill on Brew Mate as I do not have a chiller, but may end up "fudging" something until I get sorted. Went for an easy receipe as it is my first AG, therefore not too much can go wrong etc. What do you guys think?

Good straight forward recipe. See no obvious problems there.

Good luck with #1. Just remember to keep a log (records), take your time, don't rush the process AND make sure all your taps are closed.
I buy from The Malt Miller

Good luck Crispy!

In addition to Beer O'Clock's advice to make sure the taps are closed
Make sure you put the hop filter in before you start the boil!

Write everything down and take some photos!

Cheers

Cheers guys. Looking (weather dependant - as brewing outside on gas) at Tuesday.

Was just wondering about the amount of Fuggles Hops: Recipe (in GW's book) states 57g at 90 minutes, but I've got 76g of them. Is it worth doing 57g at 90 and the remainder at 10 minutes. I was wondering if it will affect anything?

good luck, the first time doesn't need to hurt. Just worry about the basics and you will make beer.

It'll up the bittering slightly ( not much though ) and give you some added hop flavour in your final brew. Go for it, you know you want to :)

Cheers all,

Think I might just make the change to 57g @90 and rest @10. Can't wait to get started. Will start a brewday thread (with pics) on Tuesday. [-o< for good weather.

You don't need to tick no chill unless you intend leaving the good with the wort as it cools down.;-)

Look on the aussie homebrewer website for more detail if you are unsure

Why not keep back the extra hops and bung it in at the conditioning stage (dry hopping). I reckon that adds good character.
