Left Over Brew?
Left Over Brew?
SHMBO has ruled that I'm not allowed anymore hops until I have used up most of my bits and bats. so, anyone got a recipe to use up some of these...
Citra 54g
Challenger 12g
Goldings 8g
Styrian Celeia 30g
Northdown 36g
Cascade 40g
Magnum 69g
EKG 30g
First Gold 15g
Stella 40g
I have a fair amount of pale malt. the yeasts I have are : Mauribrew Ale 514, Gervin English Ale and Safale us-05. Something around 3.7 to 4% would be perfect.

Re: Left Over Brew?
I've done a couple of beers with 30gms of challenger for bittering and 50gms of citra late hops, very nice. You could substitute the northdown for the challenger.

Re: Left Over Brew?
Looks OK to me.
Re: Left Over Brew?
That looks a bit too bitter for me but then its not my beer. I just don't think there will be enough maltiness and body to balance the bitterness and the citra hops which can be quite tart. I would be adding the 30min addition to the flameout hops...

I have about 340gms of Munich malt, would it be worth adding that and the torrefied wheat? I'll add all the Citra at flame out.

That would be nearer to the one I brewed.

Re: Left Over Brew?
I didn't use torriefied wheat but don't think that will make any major difference.
Re: Left Over Brew?
Fantastic.
Would adding my extra 6g of Northdown hurt it in any way? I just want to get some of these hops out of the way.
SWMBO doesn't know about the 5 packs of hops in my bottle fridge or the 250g of Cascade thats in the post.

Re: Left Over Brew?
I've always found northdown and challenger similar to each other and certainly would not leave 6 gms left in the packet.
Re: Left Over Brew?
Thanks for your help Dennis.
I'll get this on over the next few days.
