Alright folks,
Seeing as autumn is just around the corner I'm thinking it's time to start getting something darker on the go.
What do you guys think of this?
Summat Brown
20l Brew Length
Est. O.G: 1.052
4kg Maris Otter
300g Torrified Wheat
200g Crystal Malt
100g Chocolate
Golding/Fuggle/Northdown blend to around 30 IBU
S-04 yeast
I'm trying for something chestnut to red in colour, do you reckon that the crystal/chocolate balance should be altered? I have Roasted Barley and a little black malt remaining if they would help alter the colour without adding too much roasty flavour.
I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Looks good. In my experience, a little roasted barley adds the red tint better than anything else. You could supplement a very small amount and see. The wheat should give you some head retention and lace, but I love to add a handful of quick oats to the mash to make it even more so.

I like the sound of this, I may do something similar with what I have... I have some different yeasts to use up.
Also I am looking to do a pumpkin ale aswell as I love pumpkin haha!

Well I've got it on the go now, it's mashing as I type. Decided against using the roasted barley but I will consider it for the next one - good idea with the oats though Seymour, might save me a bit of cash (seem to be getting less and less lately).
