Belgian Single

Post by darthballs » Sat Nov 24, 2012 12:58 am

I am gonna brew a Belgian single tomorrow. I also want to use the yeast cake to make a Quadrupel sometime in December, so plan to harvest the yeast from this brew for that.

Ingredients:
3.25kg Pale Malt (2 Row) Bel (5.9 EBC)
0.50kg Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (157.6 EBC)
0.25kg Wheat, Torrified (3.3 EBC)
0.10kg Carafa I (663.9 EBC)
0.25kg Candi Sugar, Clear (1.0 EBC)
30.00g Styrian Goldings [5.40 %] - Boil 90.0 min
10.00g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min
1/4 Protofloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 mins)
10.00g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min
5.00g Coriander Seed (Boil 10.0 mins)

Wyeast 1762 Belgian Abbey Ale II Yeast (I am kinda tempted to try this with 2 dry yeasts, Safale S-04 and Safbrew T-58 but I will probably decide later)

Beersmith says it will be about 4.5% so a nice session beer, for Feb/Mar...

The 58 would be the better choice.
I'm just here for the beer.
