Pendle Witches Brew hop quantities?

Post by DC » Sat Dec 01, 2012 9:10 pm

Hi all, I am brewing a clone of Moorhouse's Pendle Witches Brew, but I have 2 different recipes with 2 different quantities of Fuggles hops ! So I am not sure which recipe to follow for the hop quantities?

The first recipe which is the early GW recipe calls for 80g Fuggles @ 90 mins & 20g @ 15 mins

The second recipe which is the later GW recipe calls for 56g Fuggles @ 90 mins & 11g post boil

So which is the best quantity of Fuggles to use for the Pendle Witches Brew? I am not a huge fan of mega hopped beers? So I am thinking 80g of Fuggles followed by 20g of Fuggles might be a tad too much !

Any help?

Cheers DC

are the two recipes for the same volume?

My edition of the GW book says 56/11 is for 23 litres. I'd go with the later edition, I assume he changed it for a reason. All the other brews I've done from this book have been fantastic

Both recipes are for 23 Litres, I think I will go with the later edition as you have suggested.
