Timmy Taylor Ram Tam

Post by Scotty » Wed Dec 05, 2012 1:19 pm

Occasionally, TT Ram Tam appears at my local. It never lasts long so I've got to be quick. Failing that, I would like a crack at brewing it myself.

Anyone have a recipe?

I remember someone telling me once that it was basically Landlord with added caramel. Not sure if that's true.

Hi Scotty
John, Mollasses has a very strong smell and flavour that I think would be unpalatable, unless a really tiny amount was used, then not sure it would do anything at all.
Maybe the caramel would be good and could be achieved by just taking some of the 1st runnings from the boiler and boiling down to a sticky goo.
I recon that would be nice. i'll have to put that on a list to do.

A quick look on TT website shows Ram Tam is an award winning Mild.

I can't say for sure, but my research indicates the Ram Tam is entirely Golden Promise plus Caramel syrup, then an extremely vigorous boil for more kettle caramelization.

Ram Tam is just Landlord with caramel added, probably at racking time.
