Hi there!
I'm to try an all-grain brew and my first attempt would be one of my favourite all-time bitters - Eldridge Pope Dorchester. I have the "Brew Your Own British Real Ale At Home" book and it has recipes for Hardy Country Bitter and Royal Oak, but sadly not Dorchester!
Does anyone know if there is such a recipe? If so, please can you share!
Thanks,
Mungo

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I e-mailed Roger Protz and he replied with some details. I guess it gets me somewhere closer to a recipe, but not sure where to go next with it - trial and error maybe!

Pipkin pale malt, crystal malt, brewing sugar. Challenger and Northdown whole hops, dry hopped with Goldings. 21 units of bitterness. They didn't give any percentages but crystal wouldn't be more than 5% (I suspect) though no idea how much sugar was used. Hope this helps.
Good Luck,
Roger.
I had a twiddle around with Beersmith this afternoon to get some ideas. Based on some of the other Eldridge Pope recipes I think this might get close, but not sure!
I must admit I don't really know what I'm doing with recipes....
Maris Otter 3200g
Toriffied Wheat 370g
Crystal Malt 200g
15g Northdown Hops
10g Challenger Hops
Dry hopped with 10g Goldings.
According to Beersmith the original gravity would be 1035, the alcohol 3.4%, and the IBU 22.5.
What do you think? Possible... ? Or a disaster in the making?!
