Belgian Strong Dark

Post by jmc » Thu Apr 11, 2013 1:11 am

I've made a strongish Belgian brew for Christmas for the past couple of years and this year I fancied a darker brew.

Last weekend I started a Belgian Single brew using WLP545 (Belgian Strong Ale) yeast so that I could use the yeast cake for this Belgian Dark Strong brew.

Recipe I'm planning is shown below.
(HTML version here)

No Belgian or UK pale in stock so using base UK lager malt plus range of more aromatic / dark malts plus some home-made candy sugar. Flaked wheat & oats added for body & mouthfeel. Low(ish) efficiency assumed.

Anyone see any problems with this or possible improvements?
(TIA for advice.) ATB John
