Hi everybody,
After Obama got into homebrewing and the White House beehives produced honey, the White House published the two recipes he used:
- White House Honey Ale
- White House Honey Porter

I'm wondering if anybody has tried any of these recipes before? I'm considering giving them a go.

The honey ale looks surprisingly English in its choice of hops and yeast

I'm half way through a batch of a cobbled together Honey Ale as my local HBS had biscuit malt in stock. Came out very good using Windsor yeast. For the honey I used a freshly opened clear honey from the heath food shop added at the last 15min of the boil at the same time with the Irish moss. Gave it a good long 14 day primary to let the honey work through.
Certainly one I will do again as the amber/biscuit malt gives a fantastic colour/taste and there are plenty of different honey tastes (such as blackcurrant or orange) to be had.
