A friend has asked me to brew some Adnams Bitter for him. I seem to think I once tried the recipe from the 2nd Ed of Graham's BYOBRA and it wasn't anything near the real thing. The 3rd edition gives a vastly different hop bill. I know nothing about Boadicea hops other than what I have read on home brew forums, which isn't very complementary. But Boadicea can't be all that bad if Adnams use them.
Has anyone tried the 3rd edition recipe and compared it to the 2nd edition? I don't want to buy Boadicea and be stuck with them if it does not come close to Adnams bitter as there is no other brew that uses the hops and just one pack is enough for 3 brews.
Cheers

Is it the Southwold Bitter that you are trying to recreate? If so I thought they use fuggles.

It is the Bitter that I want to brew. Graham's recipe in the 3rd edition of BYOBRA specifies Boadicea hops and posts on this board suggest Adnams do use those hops.

I think Adnams yeast is quite unique. One of Whitebabs seasonal yeasts, Suffolk strain, is reputed to be derived from it.
