Autumn Ale

Post by FUBAR » Thu Oct 10, 2013 11:55 am

Going to be brewing this tomorrow and would appreciate any thoughts or comments on the recipe

Volume 50 Litres
O.G 1.040
F.G 1.010
EBU 30
Mash Efficiency 85%

Grains
Maris Otter 5EBC 7120grms 90%
Crystal Malt 130EBC 550grms 7%
Special B 300EBC 235grms 3%

Hops
Fuggle 5.4% A.A 60mins 44grms
Golding 6.2%A.A 60mins 38grms
Golding 6.2%A.A 10mins 53grms

Mash time 60mins @ 67c
Boil time 60mins

Yeast a choice of either Gervin English Ale or Windsor ? not made my mind up on that one.Water treatment will be CRS to bring liquor down to 20ppm CaC03 and Gypsum, Calcium Chloride,Magnesium Sulphate as salt additions for a sweet pale Ale profile from Graham's water treatment software.

Cheers.

That looks like a nice one Fubar, have a good brewday 8) I like Gervin personally. Have you considered first wort hopping with the 60 mins additions?

Your recipe looks good to me. As for the yeast I would throw in some of each. The Gervin for good attenuation and the windsor for some good english ale character.

Good luck with the brew!

I might just try FWH with the Fuggle and add the Goldings once it comes to a boil. And yes think it will be the Gervin yeast it does seem pretty neutral and lets the malt and hops shine through.
