anyone any suggestions for improvement?
I am using Adnams yeast that I've got from a keg of Ghost ship so that should be interesting.
Its a bit of a use up for the hops but I want something with bags of hop bitterness and aroma.

I think that you should take the 60 minute Cascade addition and toss it in at flame out instead. You will get the most out of the Cascade that way

Or just toss it and replace it with goldings. :pink:
I'm just here for the beer.

Yeah, or split that Cascade addition in half: half at 30 minutes remaining, and the other half at flame-out. I would aim for around 30 IBU bitterness and use the rest for massive hoppy aromas.

Irregardless, I think you're about to make a tasty brew. And the Adnams dual-strain?! Jealous!

Best of luck!

Goldings may be more English but I've got shed load of cascade that I need to use. (Why is it I always get carried away when buying hops!)

Thanks guys. I think that I will move the cascade to 30 and flame out. but round the WGV and challenger to 20g for the 90 minute boil.
I'm also going to drop the crystal a tad so will be a little drier.

I really wanted to give a big hop punch with this one. but with an IBU 45 do you think the bitterness will be too much? I'm not really sure as I haven't done one like this yet. my thinking was that I needed lots of bitterness to balance the aroma (hopefully anyway)
The black sheep bitter is supposed to be 31 IBU but I didn't think it was that bad.

This is what it looks like so far.

Your 45 IBU will be fine, not even that bitter, a rule of thumb says 1 IBU per point of gravity, and I and many others often go much further than this with excellent results!

I'd be tempted to dry hop with the cascade.
Best wishes

I though about dry hopping but need to look at my process. I got an infection last time using a bag. Will think about it.

it turned out a bit different and it all bottled now. minor issue with water treatment but its too late now. Also looks darker than predicted.
smells good through.

Just to say this turned out well despite messing up the water treatment . Was a bit mineral to start with but had moved into a reasonably hoppy beer. Not as bitter as I thought it might be.
Recommend to anyone
