Has anyone got a good proven "Old Ale" type recipe that will be ready in time for Christmas ?

A, brother, real ale fan is interested in brewing so this weekend we are knocking up a brew at my place and half of the brew will be his. Hopefully he may be enthused enough to step out on his own someday soon.

OG above 60

85% pale ale
5% crystal 150
10% sugar and black treacle

EKG 60mins to 30-35ibu

Burton ale type yeast

simples, did it last December, called it "Sancho's Sleep". Malty, sweet, fruity.

My Roosta was well received at the Bristol Craft Brewing club it fits the profile of an old ale, albeit I didn't know that when I planned it.

The crystal is dark crystal from WHS so don't know what SRM it really is.
