Fullers London Porter

Post by Addled Jim » Sun Oct 27, 2013 9:56 am

Hi
Planned to make this today using the recipe in GW book but just realised I have Pale Chocolate not standard Chocolate - not wishing to waste a brew day could anyone recommend how I could over come this?
I have plenty of Pale Chocolate and Black Malt and lots of dark French roast filter coffee - how could I juggle those to achieve the correct colour and a similar taste?
I realise this will be erring from the original recipe and the outcome will not be true to a Fullers but something similar would be great
Thanks,

Similar situation happened to me brewing a mild a while back. I just went with pale chocolate and ended up with one of the best milds I've brewed.

Keep a bottle back and compare it when you get to brew the original.

Planning: ...to finish building new brewery!

Just realised I used pale in my Arkells Mild without realising - will have to see how it turns out!
I would have thought I'd loose both colour and taste with pale substituting regular, I'd rather an alternative tweak to the original recipe
