Rum Porter

Post by simpleton » Tue Dec 03, 2013 7:42 pm

Evening.

I had a great pint of a rum porter (http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/boggart-rum-porter/101269/ ) a week or so ago, it did dawn on me that this combines my two favourite things, so its time to brew one. This wasn't too strong at 4.6%.

Anyone brewed one? How much rum did you use and at what stage? Which Rum?

I expect to age this for about a year, and would prefer it to be somewhere in the region of 5.5%, and not massively overpowering with rum, but definitely noticeable.

Let me know if you have any tips.

Cheers.
Si

One of my favourite beers, but sadly rarely seen down here.

I emailed the brewery some time ago to ask about what they put in it, but didn't get a response.

Would love to know the recipe/method of a good rum porter.
