Adjusting recipe size

Post by lindsay » Thu Jan 09, 2014 1:13 am

Hi
If I wanted to adjust a all grain recipe from 23 ltrs to 40 ltrs how would I go about that.
For example
Hop back Summer lightning from GW book 23 ltr recipe.

Pale malt 4990g
Challenger hops 46g start of boil
Golding hops 15g last 10 mins
Golding hops 9g post boil
Irish moss 3G last 10 mins of boil
Total liquor 33.3 ltrs
I sachet of so4 yeast

Thanks

Lindsay

I'm guessing you'd multiply the quantities by 40/23? But if you use beer engine or similar it will do it for you :)
Cheers and gone,

Yeah thought that would be how it would work. Would I still use just 1 packet of yeast and 1 whirflok tablet or would I need to double those?

You're almost doubling the size so I'd go double on the yeast; never used whirlfloc, but probably double that too.
I'm just here for the beer.
