AG#3 citra!!!

Post by barry44 » Sat Feb 08, 2014 10:41 am

Hi guys, the kids are at their grandparents today so I am going to take advantage and get a brew on.

It is a user upper prior to a new order and reflects that. I thought I had more maris otter and the complexity of the grainbill reflects that.

AG#3 Citra!!

Recipe specifics:

Style: American Pale Ale
Batch size: 22.0 l
Boil volume: 29.0 l
OG: 1.050
FG: 1.013
Bitterness (IBU): 44.6
Color (SRM): 9.2
ABV: 4.9%

Grain/Sugars:

4.00 kg Maris Otter Malt, 72.7%
0.75 kg Munich, 13.6%
0.25 kg Wheat, 4.5%
0.25 kg Vienna, 4.5%
0.25 kg Crystal 40L, 4.5%

Hops:

14.00 g Magnum (AA 14.4%, Whole) 60 min, 21.2 IBU
70.00 g Citra (AA 14.4%, Pellet) 5 min, 23.5 IBU
50.00 g Citra (AA 14.4%, Pellet) dry hop

All the grains are mixed in at this point so I hope its not a howler!!

I am going to attempt to record this as a brew day and will be taking snaps as I go through the day.

Cheers, Barry.

Barry, user-upper or not, that sounds like it'll be delicious. Looks like a nice "American All-Day IPA" to me. Cheers!

Looks like a good recipe, I like adding Munich malt to an IPA myself and Citra hops are great. Look forward to the snap shots :)

Having recently bought some Vic's Secret pellets from Dean on Ebid, i am considering changing my recipe and putting in 50g of these instead of the planned citra dry hop.

Has anyone got any experience of Vic's Secret on it's own or in a combo?
