Tomorrow's recipe. A little help please

Post by octoscott » Fri Jul 11, 2014 8:03 pm

Gonna brew this up tomorrow, but is the hop combo actually gonna work?

More the question is will the liberty come through at all or do I need to change anything?

Thanks in advance.

I think your liberty might get lost amongst the Amarillo.

Would you suggest losing the amarillo altogether or dropping one of the additions? Looking for quite a hoppy lager type taste.

Cheers

If I were doing that beer I would likely drop the bitterness about 10 points and likely use Simcoe rather than Liberty for no other reason than I have had good luck with that combination. I'd also likely dry hop but hey, that's just what we do over here. I think you will find that you end up with a fairly dry beer which is going to showcase the hops pretty well; most APA's are about 40 IBU's but we agressively late and dry hop. Anyhow good luck and have fun, this weekend is a heffe weekend for me.
Drinking:Saison (in bottles), Belgian Dubbel (in bottles), Oud Bruin (in bottles), Olde Ale (in bottles),
Abbey Triple (in bottles), Munich Helles, Best Bitter (TT Landlord clone), English IPA
Conditioning: Traditional bock bier, CAP
Fermenting: Munich Dunkel
Next up: Bitter (London Pride like), ESB
So many beers to make, so little time (and cold storage space)

Thanks for that Barley, I will tone down the buttering a bit. It's an experiment so here's hoping it turns out alright. I've not had a lot of luck with liberty in the past.

Best of luck with your own.

Yeah, buttery beers aren't that great.

Diacetyl I believe, not necessarily a required taste! #-o

Yes if you're going for something a bit more blonde and lagery I think you'd be better without the Amarillo and just using the liberty.

If you're after a Liberty beer, Fuller's Discovery in BYOBRAH is a good recipe.
