Sorachi Ace
Sorachi Ace
Hi, interested to hear any views on this. I just bottled a pale ale (nearly all standard pale malt) with bittering hops but then a load of late Sorachi Ace plus dry hopping with the same. Out of the fermenter it tasted OK, possibly somewhat lemony but oddly a bit rich almost buttery? Difficult to describe and I know that I'll have to reserve judgement for a few weeks. I didn't really plan it - kind of picked up a packet a while back and decided to bung it in on a use up brew. Anyone used this hop/have any views - positive or negative? Not really seen any commercially available beers using this but I am sure they exist.
Re: Sorachi Ace
I picked some up recently too and brewed a pale ale with it today I used about 60g in 16l as flavour and aroma, it was very lemony indeed. Looking forward to trying the brew in a few weeks
Buxton have just done Ace Edge which I think is sorachi ace, based on their axe edge which is a great IPA normally it's very recent. Maybe try and find a bottle of that

Re: Sorachi Ace
I've made a single hop using Sorachi ace and I am not sure about the hop at all.
At first it was like diacetyl and now it's like coconut!!
Definitely a strange one
